A blog for artists and art appreciators. Here you shall find all art forms; traditional, digital, literature and everything related or even unrelated but it seems to fit. It might have been created by me, or you or someone else, but credit shall always be given.
Looking at the quiet, still paintings of Romanian artist Flavia Pitis, one gets the sensation that something wicked is looming on the horizon. Dimly lit with a chiaroscuro effect, the works present solitary children and sometimes adult women blissfully playing with floating objects and dolls, seemingly unaware of the ghostly ambiance surrounding them. Much like the scene before a big scare in a horror movie (when it’s tempting to scream “Don’t go over there!” at your TV), Pitis’ works uphold a fragile silence that might be broken at any moment. Take a look at some of her works below, images courtesy of Flavia Pitis.
In the series “Dama Dama” I focus mainly on the freedom of nature. I think that these images deliver a kind of atmosphere : beginning with lightness, and ending with smothering fragrance in a summer day. Technically I cover the canvas with rough brushstrokes , adding little details which creates an illusion of flowing movement. This series gave me a big push towards creating new objects, such as ceramic and graphic art.
